Il Farneto
Holiday Apartments in Umbria

Sightseeing

A lot of interesting Umbrian towns such as Perugia, Assisi, Città di Castello, Orvieto, Todi, Spello, Spoleto, Norcia, Città della Pieve can be conveniently visited by car. Gubbio is also an ideal starting point for hiking tours to the Lago Trasimeno and to the "Parco Regionale di Monte Cucco".

Even destinations in Tuscany (e.g. Siena, Arezzo, Florence, Montepulciano) are within a daytrip's reach.

If you want to visit Rome it is advisable to take the train: from Fossato di Vico you will reach the Eternal City within 90 minutes – no need to find a parking lot in busy Rome.

A trip to the Adriatic Sea will take you through the breathtaking scenery of the province of Marches. It takes only about 1½ hours.

If you need a little workout and want to see more of the immediate neighborhood of Gubbio you can rent one of the modern bikes at Il Farneto.

Or maybe you always wanted to go mushrooming? Umbria is famous for some very special mushrooms: its black truffles (which unfortunately grow underground!).

Shopping

There are 2 supermarkets (Supéral und Plus) on your way from Il Farneto to Gubbio. In Gubbio itself you will find a shopping mall with a lot of different shops and another supermarket.

You can buy fresh homemade noodles at "Punto Pasta" about 4 km (2½ miles) from Il Farneto.

Every Tuesday there is a big weekly market in Gubbio.
